HAY
In 2005, we committed to producing the highest quality hay possible. So in the spring of 2006, we installed an irrigation system on 80 acres of coastal Bermuda. With the ability to supplement rainfall with eight tenths of water per week, we cut our coastal on 30 day intervals whenever weather permits.
Included in our attempt to produce high quality hay, we stay on top of our soil needs. Soil tests are submitted regularly in order to maintain optimal growing conditions. We test for fertilizer needs, lime requirements and micronutrient status.
Our coastal hay is of premium quality. Rocking H hay is high in nutrient content, TDN, protein and is very clean. Every cutting of hay has been fertilized. Anyone who purchases our hay can bet that they are receiving the highest quality hay in North Texas.
We also plant seasonal crops for hay production. Variable hybrids of sudan grass, including BMR, are in regular rotation. Ryegrass mixed with Yucci clover is the winter pasture baled for hay.
